Seong weon Ahn is a South Korean artist who studied Oriental painting at university where she became fascinated with the beauty of plants and completed a course in botanical art. In 2019 she won a Gold medal for a competition held by The Botanical Artist Society of Korea and has since participated in exhibitions around the world. Her preferred medium is coloured pencils because of the detail and control they allow in capturing plants in all their diversity and complexity.Look out for Seong’s botanical pieces in each of the four issues in 2025, starting in March.
“I sincerely hope that the artwork I create for The Plant Review in 2025 will inspire many people to appreciate not only plants but also the art of botanical illustration. It would be a dream come true if my paintings could help others to understand, enjoy, and cherish the natural world.”
