Learn the basic skills required for successful papercutting including using a scalpel blade safely and accurately. Create several flat pieces and a 3D card on a theme of Christmas trees. You will be supplied with a couple of prepared resource sheets that you can practice on.

Create several festive foliage and Christmas tree themed cuts whilst practising your technique. Then you will design and cut your own festive piece. Christine will demonstrate how to design and cut out in detail, with lots of top tips and ideas about what you can do with the finished paper cuts.

Specific skills students will learn at the workshop series:
  • loading and unloading a blade from a scalpel
  • safe use of scalpel
  • basic top tips for starting papercutting
  • some simple cutting exercises to gain confidence for the blade
  • cutting out various foliage shapes and designs
  • cutting out a design in reverse
  • finishing off a cut
  • creating your own design and cutting it out
  • presenting a finished cut
 
All materials and equipment provided. Lunch and refreshments included.
