World Gardens
Did you know...
- Scented roses, cottage garden favourites and Japanese-influenced planting mingle in a riot of colour and texture
- Oregon, situated in America's Pacific Northwest, has a similar climate to the UK, so the same kind of plants thrive in both regions
- A profusion of flowers makes this garden a favourite with pollinating insects
About the Garden
Designed to capture Oregon’s natural beauty, this garden takes inspiration from its mountainous landscape, ‘Rose Test’ garden and Japanese-style gardens.Rocky outcrops representing mountains form a backdrop, while conifers give a feeling of height and scale. The central focus is a still pool of water, reflecting the trees and plants.
The planting wraps around the seating area, creating sinuous, curving shapes. Shrub roses in deep reds and cream are included along with other species found in Oregon including Sidalcea, Godetia, Ammi majus, Deschampsia caespitosa and Achillea. A colour palette of deep reds, cream and pinks prevails.
