The garden aims to raise awareness of cancer survival rates. Lush planting at one end represents the doubling of UK cancer survival rates in the past 40 years, while the sparse planting at the opposite end indicates that there is still a long way to go. Three specimen trees represent the three percent of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer who survive five years after diagnosis. The 97 stained branches represent those who do not make this milestone.
