About the Garden

The RHS Kitchen Garden champions innovative, cost-efficient ways of growing fresh food at home.

Designed by RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gold medal-winner Juliet Sargeant, the RHS Kitchen Garden is packed with edible plants grown in small spaces using simple and creative growing ideas. It offers inspiration for visitors to take home with them to their own gardens and communities.

The RHS Kitchen Garden aims to demonstrate that it can be easy, cheap and fun to grow what you eat at home, at work and in public spaces. It offers a visually appealing edible garden with food crops grown in a beautiful, contemporary and stylish way.

Included in the planting are vegetables such as lettuce and beetroot; edible lavender and nasturtium flowers; gooseberry and blackcurrant bushes; and silver birch and juneberry (Amelanchier) trees.

It features raised beds, different styles of containers, herbs growing on a living wall and an aquaponics system where plants receive nourishment from fish. Small plant pots run along shelves containing recipe ideas for drinks such as Pimm’s and herbal tea, and for pizza or stir-fry dishes, featuring ingredients growing in the garden.
