The M&G Garden is a celebration of traditional, quintessential British style.
Curving pathways of reclaimed Victorian paving bricks form the hard landscape and lead to a summer house and around a concealed sandstone-edged pool. The bricks form the boundary wall too, which is capped with reclaimed sandstone.
The garden’s central summer house is carved from Sussex oak by a local craftsman, with a roof of reclaimed handmade clay tiles. Inside, a curved oak table and chairs mirror the shape and design of the paths. Two oak benches provide additional seating in the garden: one in a naturally shaded area, the other in a sunny spot.
Lush planting fills the borders. Key among the plants are rambling roses, lavender, foxgloves and myrtle. The soft, romantic planting scheme and use of natural local materials create an air of timelessness and apparent simplicity.
