A look at the 2018 RHS Chelsea Flower Show in pictures
A Royal seal of approval
Her Majesty The Queen, resplendent in a pale pink coat, attended the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday (21 May) – her first engagement since the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Saturday (19 May). The Queen was joined by Princess Anne, the Duke of York, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and other family members for their private preview.
Celebrity spotting on press day
Many celebrities enjoyed the legendary Chelsea atmosphere on press day and took in the latest horticultural trends. Joanna Lumley explored the fantastic trade stands, David Walliams met dancers from the Taal-Rasa-Bhava Dance Academy at The Iron Garden stand and Jasmine Hemsley enjoyed The Seedlip Garden.
Pick of the Great Pavilion
Housing the best nurseries from Britain and around the world, the Great Pavilion offered visitors stunning examples of horticultural excellence with plants and flowers of many, many varieties. The sights, sounds, scents and colour of the Great Pavilion were all exceptional in 2018.
Inspiring 'Space to Grow Gardens'
New for 2018, the gardens in this Chelsea garden category were bursting with interesting and simple trendsetting ideas – designed to transform smaller urban gardens. A rusted corten steel water feature, unique ways to move water around your garden at the featured Urban Flow Garden, paving that powers lights, stand-out planting schemes and innovative design all combined to give visitors inspirational thoughts to take home.

A garden to make you feel good
Garden designer Matt Keightley explored the positive impact that gardens and gardening have on mental health and emotional wellbeing with the RHS Feel Good Garden. The garden was contemporary and therapeutic, combining restrained planting with stonework to create intimate seating spaces for people to feel at ease. In 2018, the RHS has joined forces with the NHS to celebrate 70 years of their work. After the show, Matt’s garden is being relocated to the Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, providing a place for patients and staff to relax and be close to nature.
Floral design
Stunning floristry displays, including wedding arbours and dressed wedding thrones, were created for this year's competition – using the theme of a Spring Wedding. White, pink and green have been stand-out colours in homage to the recent Royal wedding.
