Finnish Soul Garden

Urban Gardens

The Finnish Soul Garden celebrates the International Year of Plant Health 2020 (IYPH) which was initiated by Finland. It also highlights the 40th anniversary of the Helsinki Convention, which seeks to protect the Baltic Sea and its marine life.

The urban Helsinki seaside garden contains a sauna with a cool-off, it's a recreational facility for city dwellers situated on a secluded peninsula off the city’s main public beach. The garden incorporates natural Baltic seaside vegetation set among the large rocks prevalent on the Finnish coast and the red, white and blue flowers of the cool-off area. Among the pine, birch and rowan trees typical of the seafront, there is a rare native Finnish coastal variety of alder (Alnus incana f. laciniata ‘Johanna’), a Chelsea first.

As a re-creation of the natural seaside landscape of the Northern shores of the Gulf of Finland, the west-facing garden enjoys plenty of light, and a chance to appreciate the magical sunset of the Baltic. It's a haven with an atmosphere of relaxation, recuperation and recreation.
