A small, spreading, deciduous tree to around 4m tall with deeply divided, seven-loned leaves that emerge a rich bronze-red in spring with bright green veining. In summer the leaves are reddish with green veining and the autumn foliage is bright gold with crimson-red tints

How to grow

Cultivation

Grow in a moist but well-drained soil. Water in summer if necessary. Leaf colour is best in partial shade, although full sun can be tolerated. Leaf scorch can be caused by lack of soil moisture or excessive exposure. See Japanese maple cultivation
