Yucca 'Blue Boy'

A slow-growing, evergreen shrub to 1m, with an upright stem bearing whorls of sword-shaped, purple-tinged, leathery leaves to 30cm long. This cultivar is much smaller and less spikey than the species and makes a good container plant

Cultivation

If grown outdoors in mild locations, grow in well-drained soil in full sun. In containers use a loam-based potting compost with added extra grit. Water freely in growth and apply a balanced liquid fertiliser monthly; water moderately at other times

Propagate by seed sown at 18°C in spring, or remove rooted suckers in spring
