A compact, herbaceous perennial to 15cm (6in) high, with rounded, deeply lobed, grey-green leaves. Slightly cupped, 3cm (1¼in) wide flowers appear in late spring and summer in raspberry-red, with a maroon centre and the petals heavily veined with deep purple.
