A spreading, deciduous shrub to 2m high and 2.2m wide, with mid-green pinnate leaves with 11-17 leaflets. The bright purple-pink flowers, 1.5cm across, are produced from midsummer to autumn, in dense racemes to 22cm long, emerge horizontally but later become pendulous
