A clump-forming, deciduous perennial grass to 1.5m in height. Leaves are narrow and mid-green in colour. In late summer to early autumn, pale brown spikes of flowers are borne. This is a specific seedling (amed by Neil Lucas at Knoll Gardens) that used to be part of a larger group known as 'M. 'Yakushima Dwarf'
