A vigorous, vertical or bushy shrub or small tree up to 6m in height with green foliage in summer becoming purplish-red in autumn. Masses of slightly overlapping, rounded, petal-like bracts ranging from pale pink to medium pink, depending on the seasonal conditions, are arranged in fours around the central greenish yellow sterile flower clusters.
