About the garden
Stone Lane Garden is a beautiful, tranquil woodland and water garden on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. It is home to the National Collections of Birch and Alder, as well as wild-collected trees from across the northern hemisphere, including rare and endangered species. Designed by Kenneth Ashburner in a naturalistic style, the garden offers a wonderfully peaceful and spiritual environment.
In spring, the bog gardens come alive with vibrant displays of colourful Primula Candelabra. The garden has recently expanded to include a newly planted arboretum with wildflower meadows, woodland walks and gorgeous views of the moor. Every year, the garden hosts a long-established Summer Sculpture Exhibition, showcasing works by Westcountry artists and designers. Additional features include a seasonal tea room and tea garden, a specialist tree nursery and a calendar of outdoor events.
