About the garden
The grounds and gardens of Paxton House were originally designed by Robert Robinson around 1756. The Palladian mansion sits in the heart of the estate, surrounded by colourful Edwardian-style herbaceous borders, extensive woodland and riverside walks along the Tweed, offering views to the world-famous Union Chain Bridge.
The gardens feature lovely areas that create interest throughout the year, with beautiful vibrant displays. The Well Garden is a mass of pink and orange candelabra primulas among ferns, hostas and a splendid Viburnum plicatum. Spring-flowering bulbs give way to an array of hardy perennials and herbaceous borders are particularly stunning throughout June. The variety of mature trees on the estate provides a spectacular show in autumn.
