About the garden
Garden and lake views open up from every winding path in this thoughtfully designed landscape. In spring, the paths are adorned with colourful clouds of azaleas and rhododendrons, while in summer, the lakes are adorned with waterlilies and waterfalls create a sense of tranquil relaxation. As autumn arrives, nature responds with its annual spectacle of colour, while winter gives the garden a stillness and sculptural beauty.
This Grade-I listed garden features the Garden for the Future, a revitalised space designed by RHS Chelsea Flower Show award-winner Joe Perkins. This is the first major renovation project since the garden came under the care of the National Trust. In the historic parkland, copses of trees provide excitement for young explorers looking for adventure, while the River Ouse offers a peaceful setting for spotting the resident winter birds.
Please note: Dogs are welcome on a short, non-extending lead, except on Saturday mornings before 1pm.
