About the garden
Owned by
Lady Emma Barnard
Set in the heart of a medieval deer park at the foot of the South Downs, Parham's award-winning four-acre Walled Garden is a tapestry of colour and rich scents from early spring until the frosts of autumn. The vast herbaceous borders are currently undergoing restoration and several have now been replanted in various colour themes. These and the majestic vegetable parterre provide a haven of peace and tranquillity.
In a tradition established more than 70 years ago, the beautiful flower arrangements throughout the house are supplied from blooms in the garden. A stunning historic greenhouse displays many unusual aromatic and tender plants.
The garden is surrounded by the seven-acre Pleasure Grounds, which include a lake set among specimen trees and native heathers and a delightful (and complicated) turf and brick maze.
Parham's Nursery offers a wide range of carefully selected and interesting plants for sale.
