About the garden
Winner of the 2020 Historic Houses Garden of the Year award, Mapperton Estate is Grade II-listed and ranks among the top gardens in the South West. The gardens are famous for their romantic setting, varied planting and tranquil atmosphere. Tucked into a steep north-south combe, the gardens descend from the very formal topiary gardens and Orangery in the north to an arboretum, beyond which the land unfolds in small, steep valleys and headlands, stretching down to the sea five miles away.
