Join The Great Woodland Adventure for a summer of hands-on forest fun at RHS Garden Rosemoor, Devon

Go wild in the woods at RHS Rosemoor this summer! Head to our woodland basecamp for six weeks of hands-on fun and outdoor challenges, from epic den building and forest school workshops to woodland crafts, tree climbing, campfire stories and much more.

Garden admission applies; free to RHS members and children under 5. Children aged 5–16 just £5.

The Big Den Build*

Saturday 2 – Monday 4 August
Bookable 90-minute sessions at 10am, 11.45am, 2pm and 3.45pm, Learning Centre Lawn


Unleash your imagination with an epic building challenge! Join Woodland Tribe, the UK experts in constructive play, and together with your fellow adventurers and family build a giant woodland adventure castle using real tools.

Ages 4+ (must be accompanied by an adult).

Daily woodland adventures

Daily, Saturday 19 July – Sunday 31 August
10am – 6pm, start at the Cob Shelter

Head to our woodland basecamp in the Cob Shelter to find out what’s on each day. Collect a bark rubbing or minibeast trail before embarking on your woodland adventure.

Den building play area

Daily, 10am – 6pm, Lower Woodland

Head to the den building area in the Lower Woodland and challenge your family and friends to build a hideaway using natural materials.

Woodland adventurers games and crafts

Thursday 24, Friday 25 and Thursday 31 July, Friday 1, Thursday 14, Thursday 28 and Friday 29 August
Drop-in sessions, Learning Centre Lawn

Join our woodland adventurers from Marvellous Eventures for different activities through the day: Capture the flag at 11am, Sack attack at 12noon, Archery at 2pm and a Nature craft session at 3pm.

All ages (must be accompanied by an adult)

Forest fun with the Learning Team*

Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 29 July – 27 August (except 12 and 13 August)
Bookable 1-hour sessions at 10.30am, 12 noon and 2.30pm, meet at the Cob Shelter

Learn new skills with the Learning Team and take part in some amazing challenges, with a different activity each Tuesday and Wednesday.

Rattlebox Theatre: Robin Hood puppet show

Monday 28 July
30-min shows at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm, Learning Centre lawn

Revel in the merry antics of Robin and his friends as they take on the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham. Be swept along in the adventure as dynamic puppetry and colourful acting bring much-loved tales of England’s greatest outlaw to life.

30-min sessions at 11am, 12 noon and 2pm, Learning Centre Lawn

Gather round in a wonderful Saxon-style tent for traditional woodland tales brought to life with music, props and humour.

Thursday 7 and Friday 8 August
Drop-in sessions 11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm, Streamfield and Woodland

Scale one of our ancient oaks with The Kids Adventure Company, then head to the Lower Woodland to enjoy some campfire cooking.

Tree climbing

Experience RHS Rosemoor from new heights with The Kids Adventure Company. Climb one of our ancient oaks and see the garden from an arborist’s view.

Tremendous trees trail

Daily, Saturday 19 July – Sunday 31 August
10am – 6pm

Explore the world of mighty trees! Discover which tree lives the longest, grows the tallest, or has the most fascinating story. Most importantly… which is your favourite? A peaceful and educational trail for all ages.
