The journey to the RHS Britain in Bloom UK Finals
The United Kingdom is divided into 18 Regions and Nations.

A community’s 'in Bloom' campaign usually takes place in two stages, over a period of two years.
The first stage is the regional/national campaign where entrants register and are visited by judges in June/July. The results of these campaigns are announced during presentations between August and November.
To participate in the next stage, which is the RHS Britain in Bloom UK Finals, entries are selected by the Committee that manages their regional/national campaign.
To ensure that effort is sustained over time, this second stage takes place in August the year after they qualify, and this is the UK Finals judging fortnight. So, for example, if a community earns a Gold medal in their regional/national campaign in 2008, that September/October they may then be nominated to the RHS Britain in Bloom UK Finals 2009, the results of which are announced in September 2009 (with judging having taken place in August 2009).
Britain in Bloom has 13 entry categories, based on the electoral roll of the entry. In each category, communities of similar size are encouraged to perform their best in the areas of horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community participation.
