The Wild Wood Appeal 2009 The Wild Wood Appeal

When Dick and Helen Robinson took over Hyde Hall in 1955 it was a very different place to the Hyde Hall we know and love today. The land and surrounding area had all but been cleared of trees for farming. There was no garden and only six trees on the top of a windswept hill.

Just over 10 years ago we set out on a major programme to re-plant the woodland that was once such a distinctive feature of the landscape at Hyde Hall. In that time we've re-planted nearly 50 acres of woodland with some 50,000 trees.

The next planting programme

The Wild Wood appeal will raise funds towards the next phase of re-planting. We’re essentially ‘turning back the clock’ as so much of the country’s traditional woodland has been destroyed, and continues to be under threat from urbanisation, motorways, airport expansions and farming. So it’s crucial that we not only protect what little we have left, and restore as much woodland as we can.

Support the Wild Wood Appeal

This is your chance to make an indelible mark on the countryside – to help restore beautiful, traditional woodland vistas, rich in flora, fauna and wildlife.

Hyde Hall garden curator Ian Le GrosIt costs us just £3 to plant a tree, so by giving just £30 to our Wild Wood Appeal, you can help us plant 10 trees and make a real and lasting difference to our landscape.

Alternatively, help us to re-plant another 100 trees by giving £300 we will acknowledge your contribution on the Wild Wood donor boards which take pride of place in our visitor centre.

Every tree is precious and every donation to our Wild Wood Appeal will make a difference.
