Historic photographThe library has a large collection of photographs, including autochromes, glass lantern slides, black and white prints, and slides. Work is developing on this diverse collection.

Cartes de visite

Frederick J Chittenden photographMore than 700 carte-de-visite photographs, mostly of 19th century botanists and gardeners, housed at RHS Lindley Library, London.  Many of the people in the photographs have never been depicted in published sources.

Chelsea Flower Show photographs

More than 2,000 images record the show and its exhibits since 1913. The photographs capture the history of the RHS, the show and exhibition standards and offer a fascinating review of changing fashions.
